Models off-duty are welcomed subjects for street-style photographers: The contrast of outrageous show makeup with the laid-back jeans-and-leather-jacket look we’ve come to associate with models on the street makes for an endless combination of beautiful, unexpected pairings. But here’s a thought: Are they ever really “off-duty”? Especially when they’re going from one pack of photographers at the end of the runway to another flock backstage, to a teeming hive out front after the show? A model during fashion week is on, on, on, and in this slideshow, we showcase how our favorites do good work everywhere—whether they’re on the sidewalk, leaning out of a car window, or slipping out the back door.
